Maitreya Raj Foundation and Charitable Hospital is an institution under the aegis of Ankur Trust, which is a Public Charitable Trust. By the grace of the presiding deity ‘Dr. Maitrey Patil’, the Hospital was inaugurated on 2nd September 2022 on the premises of the famous ‘Hodcco Colony’ in Pen Raigad 402107. With the assistance of four socially conscious doctors, in a short time, Maitreya Raj Foundation and Charitable Hospital took shape from what was previously only an Out Patient Department. Today the very same Hospital is a renowned name that has gained the trust of just about everybody, not only from the City but also from nearby Pen Taluka.

Maitrey Raj Foundation (MRF) Pen Raigad has been working informally on issues related to health, tribal development, and gender equality since May 2012. The mission of MRF is “Health for All” especially the rural poor while giving priority to women and children. During the last three years, we have conducted field visits and acquainted ourselves with the health problems of the people. We have organized a number of health camps and conducted an awareness campaign dealing with the prevention of diseases and the decreasing sex ratio in Maharashtra. In this context, we have run a persistent SAVE THE GIRL CHILD campaign. We have coordinated with like-minded NGOs and government agencies to execute these programs. We received overwhelming support from the college youth and the CBOs of the area.

MRF was officially registered in March 2014. On 7th March 2014, a health camp was organized for tribal women, domestic workers, and women from the deprived class. The check-up included diagnosis and distribution of free medication. Through such health camps, the Foundation provides free investigations and follow-ups. Over the years we have developed contacts with a few eminent doctors from Pen who assist and provide services through such programs.

We are also actively involved in the awareness campaign against female infanticide and conduct gender equality workshops with school and college students and the youth of the villages. The decreasing sex-ration between men and women in our society is a great concern for our organisation and hence we have tried to involve as many groups and NGOs and theatre groups to give visibility to this issue.
We believe raising social consciousness on the issue related to livelihood, food security, and improving the public health sector is an important strategy to achieve “Health For All”. Under this strategy, we do encourage the rural poor, tribals to grow pulses, millets, tubers, herbal medicines, and preserve their indigenous variety of seeds, etc which promotes a healthy diet and strengthens their livelihood too.
We are dreaming of buying land to put up a charitable hospital with an outreach program to the nearby villages and start allied activities.
